WordPress Plugins :: posted October 16, 2007 :: last modified June 15, 2008

Recently, people on the WordPress forums were trying to find the Fancy Categories plugin. The home site of the plugin was dead and nobody seemed to have a copy, just a link. I tried to help find it, without much success.
Enter BB Iverson, who was able to locate a copy by cleverly asking someone who was using it. BB sent it to me, as I had offered to provide a new home for it. And here we are.
I did not write this plugin, nor have I tested it under WP 2.3. I’ll try to at least play with it a little tonight and post an update here. In the meantime, you can download it here:

I just set it up under WP 2.3. Works like a charm for me. The only issue I’m having right now is in styling it
One more issue is that Fancy Categories does not allow for exclusion of categories or any organization. You just don’t have that many options, everything is going to show up, regardless.
I understand your frustration, Jerry, but I’m afraid I didn’t write this one. I am just providing a home for it, since its official home seems to have vanished. I may take a stab at expanding, upgrading, and widgetizing it at some point, but not today. Sorry, man.
Jrrl,
Actually, I knew that you were just hosting it. I was just posting comments on it, as requested
I’m already trying to locate the code that pulls the categories. When i do, I’ll be making whatever mods seem needed myself. Perhaps I’ll give the thing back to the community, too.
for now I’m just working like mad on a blog redesign, so my time is limited as well
