So, I’m having a good couple of months here. My candidate won the election. My team is playing in the Superbowl today (Go Steelers!). And I just tallied up the numbers for January and my choice for best host (HostGator) has made it to number one over DreamHost.
Yes, HostGator made it to number one, finally passing DreamHost, who only managed to dethrone BlueHost a few months ago. The times they are a-changin’ I guess. BlueHost, oddly enough, has dropped all the way to number 9, while their virtually identical co-brand HostMonster remains solid at number 3. Explain that one to me please!
midPhase and ANHosting continue their drops, down to 7 and 8. I’ve also been getting reports of problems people are having with other hosts that UK2 has recently acquired (e.g. WingSix), so this may be a problem endemic to UK2’s management of these hosts. It would be nice to think this will turn around, but if your contract is up with one of their hosts, it probably wouldn’t hurt to shop around.
Finally we have a bit of a surprise with Yahoo! popped into the top 5 and FatCow came out of nowhere to hit number 6. I’ll have to give FatCow a more serious look.
