NetworkSolutions.com Gets a Web 2.0 Makeover
Networks Solutions is prepping a new version of their website to be release “on or around August 1, 2009.” The new design has a lot of the trappings of “Web 2.0″ look and there is mention of new features being added to their services as well. How good the feature enhancements turn out to be will have to wait for the actual release. In the meantime, you can check out the new site. Here’s a quick glance:
For the youngsters out there, Network Solutions used to be the only place to buy .com domains. The only one! And they’d run you $35 a year. I can still remember buying my first domain (steampunk.com for the curious).
Nostalgia aside, Network Solutions remains an important player in the domain game. While they may not be as big as GoDaddy — nobody is — they are one of the top five registrars in terms of number of domains managed.

Web 2.0 has nothing to do with graphic design you twit.
I know that, which is why I said it has a “web 2.0 look” rather than saying it is a web 2.0 site. Correct or not, many people associate Ajax, rounded corners, and floating layers with web 2.0. Those interface features have nothing to do with using collaboration and user-generated content, of course, but it is the look that most people associate with web 2.0.
And thanks for the epithet. Always nice.
